Barbara J. McCain, daughter of Albert and Maye (Brown) Feaster, was born May 9, 1924, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She received her education in the Spirit Lake schools. Her family operated the roller rink at Arnolds Park.

On November 24, 1948, Barbara and John McCain were married in Waseca, Minnesota. Barb and John made their home in Emmetsburg where they raised their family of four children.

Barb started working at McNally Abstract in Emmetsburg in 1963. She became owner of the family owned business in 1983. She operated McNally Abstract until 2000 when she retired

Barb was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and she was a faithful supporter of Emmetsburg Catholic School. She was a member of various professional groups for many years.

Barb always looked forward family trips to Green Lake in Spicer, Minnesota, with her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake and cook for everyone and still found time to go fishing.

She welcomed family to her home every Sunday, preparing a delicious and plentiful meal. "I'm sorry kids, that all we have," she would say.

Barb loved entertaining family and friends on St. Patrick's Day, welcoming everyone to share food and Irish music at her garage. Barb was a quite lady with a big heart and a gentle smile.

Barb was known as "Grandma Barb" to her own grandchildren, along with her grandchildren's friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Barb and her husband, John, traveled to Ireland. They also traveled to many areas throughout the United States. Barb also had the opportunity to travel to Germany when her son Tim was stationed there with the military.
