Barbra Wempen, age 75 of Algona, passed away on October 30, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Services will be 10:30 am Monday November 2nd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Visitation will be 2 – 5 pm on Sunday at the Trinity Life Center in Algona. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg.

Barbra Jean Opheim, the daughter of Glenn and Margaret (Koekenhoff), was born on September 10, 1951, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1969. Barb worked as an accountant in various businesses before starting her own accounting business.

Barb was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona and the Algona Garden Club. She enjoyed shopping, her flower garden, shopping, traveling, shopping, going to the Lake, shopping, her dogs, chickens, peacocks and more shopping.

Left to cherish Barb’s memory are her children, Dave (Kristi) Wempen of Adrian, MN and Jody (Tony) Cink of Wesley; 6 grandchildren, Ella and Drew Wempen, Madelyn Groen, Katelyn, Treyton and Carter Cink; 2 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, LuAnn Opheim of Emmetsburg and Debbie Opheim of Cylinder; and a brother, Dan (Kim) Opheim of Cylinder. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gene and Dale Opheim; and a nephew, Austin Opheim.
