Betty Leoline Rosacker Snittjer was born April 7, 1925 in Ruthven, Iowa to Glen and Lucille Aldrich Capener. She graduated from Ruthven High School in 1942, attended Cedar Falls Teacher's College, and taught rural school in Highland Township. She married Dale G. Rosacker on July 22, 1944 at the Ruthven Methodist Church and they lived and farmed south of Ruthven. Betty and Dale were blessed with 3 children, Jeffrey, Lori, and Carol. Dale passed away suddenly on January 20, 1970.

Betty met and later married Donald Snittjer from Ackley, IA on October 6, 1973 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Don had 4 children- Marilyn, Kathy, Randy and Kelli. The 2 families merged and they made a happy home together in Ruthven. Betty and Don's favorite pastimes included ballroom dancing, church activities, spending time with friends and family as well as many traveling adventures, which included several trips to California and Arizona to visit family. Betty also enjoyed gardening of flowers and vegetables, canning, baking, was a talented seamstress and an innovative DIY crafter…(hanging much wall paper for everyone). But of all things she loved doing, spending time with her family was what she loved and treasured the most.

In addition to being a member of Eastern Star, Betty was a very involved member of the Ruthven United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, played the organ, served on various committees and was later employed as the church secretary. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Reinders Farm Equipment and Northwest Iowa Agency on Aging, from which she retired in1995. One of Betty's proud contributions to the Ruthven community was her involvement on the committee responsible in bringing the Ruthven Care Center to reality. She and Don lived in the assisted living for several years. Don passed away on December 6, 2012.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Lucille Capener, her brother Kenneth Capener, 2 sisters Ruth Silva and Opal Miller, her first husband Dale, her son Jeff, and her husband Don. She is survived by her daughters Lori (Randy) Eggers of Roseville, CA and Carol (Doug) Dykstra of Spencer, IA, daughter-in-law Marti (Jeff) Rosacker of Ruthven, IA, step children Marilyn McGeachy of Menifee, CA, Kathy Cea of Sun City, AZ, Randy (Marti) Snittjer of Scottsdale, AZ, and Kelli (Brent) Engelhart of Anthem, AZ, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
