Brian William Picht, son of Monte Paul and Deborah J. (Snavely) Picht, was born August 29, 1977 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. As a young boy, Brian and his family moved to Laurens where he received his education at Laurens Community School.

Following high school Brian worked in hog confinements in the area. He then moved to Kansas City where he was employed at the Kansas City International Airport in inventory distribution. After returning to Emmetsburg, Brian worked at Wild Rose Casino and Resort as security personnel until his health forced him to quit.

Brian will be remembered by his family and friends as someone that was always ready and willing to help out anyone in need. He loved his family very much and cherished the time he spent with them. As a child he was always happy and very active. He enjoyed going fishing with his step father at the river in Pierre and Ft. Randal South Dakota. He also enjoyed playing video games when he had time. Brian will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Brian passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa, at the age of 39. He was preceded in death by his father, Monte Picht; grandparents; and two cousins, Ryan Sidles and Travis Snavely.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Deborah and Dale Mefferd of Ruthven, Iowa; two brothers, Todd Picht of Davenport, Iowa and Nathaniel Mefferd of Ruthven, Iowa; his grandmother, Mildred Harris of Emmetsburg, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Connie (Tim) Sidles, Randy (Crystal) Snavely and Cindy (Dale) Wilcoxon; several cousins as well as many other relatives and friends.
