Charlotte Catherine Goodlaxson, daughter of Frank and Lucille (Hanson) Noonan, was born December 7, 1929 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  She began her education at St. Mary's Academy in Emmetsburg  and then completed her schooling at Emmetsburg High School, graduating in 1947.

On October 8, 1949 Charlotte was united in marriage to Jerry L. Goodlaxson in Fairmont, Minnesota.  They were blessed with nine children and had the joy of celebrating seventy two years of marriage.

Charlotte was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She was a wonderful cook and baker, always making meals a special event at holidays.  Charlotte enjoyed gardening and could repair nearly any appliance or item that needed attention.  In the 1970s Charlotte worked at the Extension Service as a Nutrition Educator.  She was an accomplished seamstress and worked with Althea and Frank Sedlock making draperies.  During the 1980s Charlotte and Jerry moved to Grinnell and Charlotte worked at DeLong's Manufacturing.

She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg, singing in the funeral choir, belonging to a Rosary group, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  Charlotte was very active in the St. Pat's Association for many years, working in any capacity that she was needed and volunteering at the store.  She was also a member of the Palo Alto Garden Club and the Red Hat Society.

Charlotte's family was very important to her and once she became a grandmother, she cherished the time she was able to spend with each of her grandchildren, especially during the holidays.  She also liked watching the birds throughout the different seasons.

Charlotte passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 92.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lucille Noonan; her husband, Jerry;  a grandson, Chris Opat; and son-in-law, Lin Hillyer.

She is survived by her children, Pam Hillyer of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Mary Opat of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Bill (Barb) Goodlaxson of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Mike Goodlaxson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bob Goodlaxson of Urbandale, Iowa, Jim (Joan) Goodlaxson of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Tom (Janey) Goodlaxson of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Tim Goodlaxson of Ankeny, Iowa and Kevin Goodlaxson of West Des Moines, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as other relatives and many friends.
