Constance Faye Johnson, daughter of Richard and Evelyn (Dye) Huffman, was born June 4, 1932 in Springdale, Iowa, near Sioux City. She and her family moved to Palo Alto County where her family owned and operated cafes in Ruthven and Ayrshire. Connie graduated from Silver Lake High School in Ayrshire.

After graduating from high school, Connie worked for the telephone companies in Ayrshire and Ruthven. On January 21, 1951 Connie was united in marriage to Merlyn William Johnson in Ruthven. To this union three children were born.

She and Merlyn farmed north of Ruthven where Connie helped on the farm. She was a devoted, wife, mother and homemaker. She was also employed at AALFS Manufacturing in Spencer.
Connie was a member of the Town and Country organization and the Kildare Club. She was also member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven.

Connie will be remembered for her delicious meals, especially her potato salad, pastries and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed oil painting, fishing in Minnesota, gardening and spending time with friends and family. Connie caught a ten pound Walleye that she was very proud of. She also canned and froze many of the vegetables and produce she raised. Connie always kept her children busy walking beans and doing field work.

Connie passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Evelyn Huffman; her step father, Joe Van Waart; husband, Merlyn; and a son, Craig.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Prior and her husband, Richard of Graettinger, Iowa and Larry Johnson of Ruthven, Iowa; two grandchildren, Christopher Prior and his wife, Jen, and Matthew Prior; four great grandchildren, Addy, Mac, A.J., and Trent; nieces and nephews; and other relative and friends.
