Cynthia Ellen Olsen, daughter of Leland and Phyllis (Jones) Hales, was born August 4, 1948 in Sandusky, Ohio.  She received her education in Ohio and Indiana, graduating from high school in Gary, Indiana.  Cindy later received her Bachelors Degree in Social Work, from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.

On December 2, 1968, Cindy was united in marriage to Dale Olsen in Gary, Indiana.  They were blessed with six children.  Cindy and Dale moved to Iowa, making their home in Alta.

Cindy was employed as a social worker at CCUSO in Cherokee, Iowa for several years.  She enjoyed traveling and sewing, making several baby blankets for family and friends.  She was a great cook and was a care giver her entire life, to anyone who needed her.  One of her many joys was spending time with her grandchildren, especially playing cards and board games.  Cindy and Dale moved to Spencer.  Cindy was a member of Grace Baptist Church  in Emmetsburg.

Cindy passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, on she and Dale's 54th wedding anniversary, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 73.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, David Hales; and son-in-law, Robert Allbee.

She is survived by her husband, Dale of Spencer, Iowa; their children, Raymond Lee Olsen (Colleen) of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Norma Jeanne Harming (Keith) of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Kathleen Roseanne Allbee  of Billings, Missouri, Samantha Rae Olsen (Kevin LaRue) of Spencer, Iowa, Aaron Joshua Olsen of Phoenix, Arizona and Jedediah Luke Olsen of Sac City, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Hales of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister Debi Hales of Northern California; as well as many other relatives and friends.
