David William Virgil Clark was born May 12, 1945 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to David W. H. and Frances Marie (Hiveley) Clark. He grew up in Emmetsburg with his sisters Patricia and Shirley.
Following high school David worked for Reit's Bakery in Emmetsburg and when he was not working at the bakery, he enjoyed racing stock cars with his friends. He met and married Linda Draegert. They moved to Marshalltown and then he got a job working at a bakery before getting hired at the railroad. They raised three children Crystal, Hillary, and Giles. They later divorced. Dave was employed with the Railroad for thirty-seven years, before retiring.
Dave loved spending time at his cabin at Lost Island Lake. While there he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed gardening. Dave had a garden at home as well as at the lake. He enjoyed having his children and grandchildren spend time at the lake with him. Hillary and Giles will miss seeing him daily for their morning coffee. When Dave met Karen, his partner for the last 11 years, he introduced his love of fishing to her. They spent their time together sharing the same love of fishing.
Dave is survived by his children, Crystal Bartling of Waverly, Iowa; Hillary Lucas of Marshalltown, Iowa, Giles Clark of Marshalltown, Iowa, and his girlfriend, Karen Weaver of Marshalltown, Iowa; four grandchildren, Hunter, Ashton, Nicholas and Ava; a sister, Shirley Duncun of Des Moines, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Frances Clark; a sister, Patricia Clark; and a grandson, Chase Clark.
