Debra Kay Nissen, daughter of Darrel and Marilyn (Claude) Wickman, was born December 23, 1962 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  She received her education in West Bend and Havelock, graduating from Havelock High School in 1981.  Following high school, Deb worked at K-Mart in Spencer, where she was employed for eighteen years.

On April 12, 1996 Deb was united in marriage to Jim Nissen at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.  They made their home in Emmetsburg where they raised their family.

Deb worked at Great Lakes Aviation at the Spencer Municipal Airport as a purchasing agent and later was employed at Food Pride in Emmetsburg for nine years.  Deb was currently working at Kerber's Milling (Standard Nutrition) in the accounting department.

Deb loved to go shopping whenever the opportunity arose.  She liked camping and fishing with her family and watching the hummingbirds .  She had a fascination for sea turtles, learning about them and painting them.  Deb also enjoyed her flower gardens, raising over 50 varieties of lilies in her yard.  She supported her brothers and family in their racing activities.  After becoming a grandmother, Deb's grandchildren became her pride and joy and she looked forward to every chance she could spend time with them.

Deb passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 59.  She was preceded in death by her father, Darrel Wickman, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Lucille Nissen, and her sister, Judy Hubbell.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Nissen of Emmetsburg, Iowa; her children, Kristen Campbell of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Brad Kathman of Mallard, Iowa, Nick (Jennifer) Nissen of Mississippi and Emma Nissen of Emmetsburg, Iowa; three grandchildren, Marshall Kathman, Aiden Nissen and Connor Nissen; her mother, Marilyn Wickman of Emmetsburg, Iowa; brothers, Dean (Dawn) Wickman of Wallingford, Iowa, Bruce (Maria) Wickman of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Jim (Deb) Wickman of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Dave (Kelly) Wickman of Emmetsburg, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John (Laura) Nissen of Terril, Iowa and Jeri Nissen of Terril, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
