Dennis (Denny) Alan Roberts of Dickens, Iowa died on August 12, 2021 at the age of 72 at the Spencer Hospital on Hospice care from multi system organ failure.
Denny was born on August 19,1948 in Spencer, Iowa to Barney and June Roberts, where he grew up with his brothers, Brian and Todd, and sisters, Deb and Karla on the family farm near Fostoria, Iowa. After graduation he went into the service and served in the National Guard. Denny was an over the road truck driver for years until he met his wife, Andi. Together Denny and Andi worked many years at South Clay School as custodians and bus drivers. Anyone who rode his bus can attest they had better behave while he was driving! Through the years working at South Clay he developed many bonds with the students.
Denny and Andi raised 4 children, Cristie Classon (children - Faith), Shawn Roberts (wife-Kelly, children - Gaige, Kaden, and Karsen), Travis Roberts (wife - Jenna, children - Austin, Shae, Melany, and Brianna), and Heather Podzimek (husband - Tom, children - Nicole, Emily, Natalie, TJ, and Isabella). Denny also was the father to Brett Roberts (wife - Sarah, children - Ali, and Emily).
Denny loved to hunt pheasants with his vizsla dogs, fish at Okoboji for walleye, perch, blue gill and crappies. Somehow he always knew where they were biting. He also loved to ride and show Appaloosa horses. He enjoyed watching Cristie, Travis, and Heather show horses and the tradition was carried on with Austin, Shae, Melany, Emily and Natalie. You could always find him near the arena gates ready to congratulate you or to chew your butt for something you did wrong. Denny also had a love for sports especially baseball, football, and wrestling. You would see him watching his grandkids at any game he could make it to. He also enjoyed going to the sprint car races and going snowmobiling and many other past times.
Denny was proceeded in death by his parents, Barney and June Roberts and his grandson Austin Roberts. He was survived by his wife, children, 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brothers and sisters, and many other relatives and friends.
