Dorothy Marie Burger, daughter of James Marion and Esther (McClain) Jones, was born November 16, 1953 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She received her education in Spirit Lake and at South Clay.

On July 12, 1976 Dorothy was united in marriage to Harley Burger at the United Methodist Church in Gillett Grove, Iowa.

Dorothy drove gravel truck and worked at Berkley's in Spirit Lake. She also was employed as assistant manager at the Super America Gas Station in Spencer and later manager of the Casey's General Store. Dorothy worked at the Burger Sinclair Gas Station in Gillett Grove and had a day care.

Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gillett Grove and she served on the City Council.

She loved to go fishing and also enjoyed playing cards and marbles. Dorothy liked to travel and spend time with her family. She especially loved the holidays.

Dorothy passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her home in Gillett Grove, Iowa, at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Wells; her father, James Jones; her step father, Nile Wells; brother, Kenneth Jones; sister, Barbara Ann Shatto; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jones; father-in-law, Roy Burger; and brother-in-law, Brian Burger.

She is survived by her husband, Harley Burger of Gillett Grove, Iowa; her children, Chad Herzenach and Laura Gilman of Spencer, Iowa, Scott and Sirena Richardson of Fostoria, Iowa, Tara Mixon of Spencer, Iowa and Adam and Shandell Burger of Spencer, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Jones of Spencer, Iowa; mother-in-law, Gen Burger of Gillett Grove, Iowa; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy Bevers of Gillett Grove, Gloria and Butch Ball of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Vicki and Denny Weisbrod of Dickens, Iowa, Carl and Jody Burger of Laurens, Iowa and Gary Burger of Spencer, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Keith and Tammy Cook, Gary Jones, Jim and Kelly Jones and Greg and Tammy Jones; as well as many other relatives and friends.
