MILITARY HONORS
United States Air Force Honor Guard
Edwin E. Denham, son of Ernest and Norma (Johnson) Denham, was born April 19, 1930 in East Pueblo County, Colorado. He received his education in Colorado, graduating from Fowler High School in 1949.
On July 17, 1951 Ed joined the United State Air Force, serving four years before being Honorably Discharged on July 16, 1955. During his years serving in the military Ed was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
While living in Colorado Ed worked as a mechanic and then moved to South Dakota where he continued his employment in the mechanic business. While living in South Dakota Ed met his future wife, Joanne Robbins. They were united in marriage at the Presbyterian Church on August 20, 1955 in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Ed and Joanne made their home in Belle Fourche and in 1966 Ed opened his own business, Ed's Repair, which he operated until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed working at his shop and visiting with all of the individuals he did repair work for.
Ed was a member of the United Church of Christ. He was very musical and loved singing in the Northern Hills Barbershop Quartet and in the Senior Chorus.
Since Ed and Joanne had no children of their own they found great joy in spoiling their nieces and nephews when they would come to visit in South Dakota. Ed loved living in the Hills and spending time at his cabin. After a short illness Ed moved to Emmetsburg to be near his family. He passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024 at PARC Hall at the age of 94.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Norma Denham; his wife, Joanne; sisters, June Hodgs and Lucy Gill; and sister-in-law, Nancy (Fred) Bock.
He is survived by his nieces and nephew, Brenda (Todd) Bell of Emmetsburg, Pam (Mike) Hartman of Mallard, Iowa and Larry (Tonya) Hodgs of Palmer, Alaska; great nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
