Eileen Rouse, age 89 of Curlew, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at the Palo Alto County Health System in Emmetsburg. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM on Monday, June 22, at Martin Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Silver Lake Cemetery in Ayrshire. Services have been entrusted to Martin Mattice Funeral Home of Emmetsburg.

Eileen Ruth Rouse, the daughter of Edwin and Rita (Philpott) Michael, was born on October 1, 1936 in Estherville, Iowa. She attended schools in both Ayrshire and Estherville. On October 30, 1955, Eileen was united in marriage to Victor Dean Rouse at the Methodist Church in Estherville, Iowa. Eileen was a member of the Ayrshire United Methodist Church and later the Emmetsburg United Methodist Church. She was a part of the Ayrshire UMC Circle and other various church offices. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Eileen and Vic worked together on their family farm.  Their operation consisted of grain farming, raising dairy cattle and other livestock.  Their farm became a Century Farm in 2007.   Eileen also spent a lot of time tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting, often making clothing and blankets for her family. She also loved baking, camping, playing cards, dancing, and wintering in Florida, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish Eileen's memory are her children, Vicki (Greg) Egland of Spencer, Sherry Rouse of Spencer, and Lori (Roger) Williamson of Ruthven; daughter-in-law, Althea Rouse of Webster City; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Hansen of Ruthven; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Rita; husband, Victor; son, Rodney; great granddaughters, Halle Jade Rouse and Carsin Ann Williamson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo Hansen, DeWayne and Jean Rouse, and Cyril and Marilyn Rouse.
