Elisabeth (Betty) Armfield was born to Freddie and Geneva (Smith) Tanner on December 22, 1934 in Salem, Oregon and went to be with the lord the morning of April 1, 2019.

When she was just a baby, her parents moved back to the Lynch, Nebraska area where she lived until the age of four. She then moved to live with her grandparents, Jacob and Jennie Serk in Spencer, Nebraska where she attended school and graduated from Spencer High School in 1952. After graduation she worked at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Office for five years. She was united in marriage to Myron Armfield on August 4, 1955 in Ewing, Nebraska. To this union two children were born, one son Barton and one daughter Peggy. Betty and Myron lived in Spencer until 1963 when they moved to Butte, Nebraska where Betty was employed by the Nebraska Department of Welfare and worked in the Butte office until 1984. She then transferred to the O'Neill office and continued there until she retired in December, 1999 after 36 years with the Department. Betty and Myron moved to Everly, Iowa in June 2000 where Myron passed away in May 2001. Betty continued to live in Everly until September of 2013 when she sold her house and moved to Spencer, Iowa to be close to her daughter Peggy and husband Steve. Betty was a member of the Butte Full Gospel Church and attended Calvary Gospel Church in Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her caring grandparents, her very special Aunt ElDora and her husband Myron.

Betty is survived by her son Barton (Anchorage, Alaska) and his wife, Dianna (Las Vegas, Nevada) three grandchildren Blair, Tanner and Paige and three great grandchildren (Dallas, Texas), her daughter Peggy and husband Steven Hofbauer of Spencer, Iowa. Two brothers Garold of Pensacola, Florida and Richard of Garland, Texas.

Betty passed very peacefully while resting in her daughter's home in Spencer, Iowa.

She meant so much to so many.
