Elizabeth Ann Laubenthal, daughter of Jimmy and Alice (Gough) Cragin, was born January 21, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska.   Jim and Alice made their home in Spencer, where Libby received her education, graduating from Spencer High School.

On November 2, 1953 Libby was united in marriage to Albert C. Laubenthal at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.  Libby and Al were blessed with six children.

Libby and Al owned and operated Al's Shoes in Jackson, Minnesota before moving to Emmetsburg.  Al taught marketing and retail sales at Iowa Lakes Community College where Libby was active helping to instruct students on constructing displays and other issues associated with retail.  Libby also sold Watkins and Fuller Brush products throughout the area and served as a proctor at Iowa Lakes Community College.

Libby was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.  For many years Libby helped with decorations and setting up, in preparation for AuctionFest.  She loved gardening and raising flowers and was a member of the Garden Club.  Libby looked forward to her Wednesday Morning Coffee Club with "The Girls", where she enjoyed great conversations and fun with her wonderful friends.

Libby cherished her trips to Okoboji with her family, swimming at the beach with her grandchildren, boating on Lake Okoboji and spending time at the Boat House in Emmetsburg.  Her family was an integral part of her life and she took every chance that she could to be with them.  Libby was always ready to go on a shopping outing with family or friends.  She will certainly be remembered as the giving and kind hearted individual that she was.  Libby continued this giving nature even after her death by donating her body to Mayo Research in Rochester, Minnesota.

Libby passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of  88.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Alice Cragin; a brother, Bill Cragin; a young son, James Michael; her husband, Al; her daughter, Michele Feauto; and son-in-law, Dave Oberg.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Oberg of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Molly and Randy Schneider of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, Al and Julie Laubenthal of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Nick and Amanda Laubenthal of Council Bluffs, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a special family friend, Jane Heykes; as well as many other relatives and friends.
