Robert Patrick Brown, son of Matthew and Mabel (Iverson) Brown, was born March 17, 1938. He began his education in Ayrshire and then attended Saint Mary's Academy in Emmetsburg, which later became Emmetsburg Catholic School. While in high school Bob played guard for the boys basketball team that won the state championship in 1956.

Following high school Bob attended Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. He then continued his education at the North American College Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Reverend Father Robert Patrick Brown was ordained on December 18, 1963 at the Church of Christo Rey in Rome. He celebrated his first mass in Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg on July 12, 1964.

Fr. Bob served in the Sioux City Diocese as a pastor, teacher and administrator. His assignments were as follows:

Fr. Bob passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Holy Spirit Nursing Home in Sioux City at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe as a toddler, Dan Brown, John "Jay" Brown and Don Brown; sisters, Mary Ann Linhart and Madeline Goodmanson.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Helen Brown of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Mary Brown of Gilbert, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
