Florence Mae Coleman Malm, daughter of Frank and Maude (Smith) Coleman, was born October 28, 1928 in the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Ralph (Margaret) Smith in Ruthven, Iowa.  Florence grew up on a farm near Ruthven and attended country school, Highland #4.  She graduated from Ruthven High School in 1947.

On December 15, 1948 Florence was united in marriage to Darius "Duke" Malm at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They were blessed with five children.  Florence and Duke made their home in the Ruthven and Emmetsburg areas where they worked as a team farming and raising their children. After retiring from farming in 1994 they moved into Emmetsburg enjoying their retirement together, until Duke passed away on March 31, 2008.

Florence was a faithful and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg where she was active in church circle and various committees throughout the church.  Florence's faith was very important to her and she lived her life serving her Savior Jesus Christ through worship, volunteering and in countless other ways.  Florence prayed that her children and grandchildren would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

Florence and Duke were charter members of the Retarded Children's Association and Florence continued that membership for her entire life.  She was active in providing support for families with children with disabilities.

Florence loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was so proud of each and every one of her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed caring for her flowers.

Florence passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at her daughter's home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 92.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maude Coleman; her husband, Darius "Duke" Malm; a son, Dennis Malm; son-in-law, David Johnson; brothers, Gene Coleman and Lawrence Coleman; and a sister, Kathy Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Steven and Ruth Malm of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Becky Johnson of Spencer, Iowa, Sue and Roger Faulstick of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Kent and Tati Malm of Emmetsburg, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and her first great-great grandchild that is due in January 2022; her sister, Marlys Lee of Ruthven, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Ardyce Gritten; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
