Georgette Kathrine Soenen, daughter of Sylvere and Martha (Van Acker) Laleman, was born September 15, 1931 in Marshall, Minnesota. She received her education in Cottonwood, Minnesota.

On January 31, 1951, Georgette was united in marriage to Louie Soenen in Green Valley, Minnesota. To this union four children were born: Ronald, James, Linda and Denny.

Georgette and Louie lived in Marshall, Minnesota where they farmed until Louis left to serve in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, Louie returned to Marshall to farm. In 1966 the Soenens moved to Emmetsburg where Louie was part owner of Soenen Truck Stop and Georgette was a waitress at the diner for twenty two years.

Georgette was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and doing all kinds of crafts.

She was devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to every moment she was able to spend with each of them.
Georgette and Louie traveled to Florida, Alaska and Mexico throughout their marriage and Georgette enjoyed these trips very much.
