James "Jim" Ehrig, age 69 of Laurens, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the UnityPoint - St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral Services for Jim will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, at Martin Mattice Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the Funeral Home. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Martin Mattice Funeral Home of Emmetsburg.

James Alan Ehrig, the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Bannister) Ehrig, was born on June 17, 1957, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He graduated from Mallard High School in 1976. Jim worked as a concrete plant manager and a diesel mechanic. When Jim was younger, he enjoyed riding horses and helping his dad drive the six up horse team when showing. In his later years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. His pride and joy was his custom painted Harley Davidson. Jim loved animals, particularly dogs. Left behind are his fur babies: Sammy, Missy, Trixie, Toby, Gypsy, Princess, and Loco.

Left to cherish Jim's memory are his siblings, Beverly (Joe) Feeney of LeMars, IA, Sally Ehrig of Laurens, IA, John Ehrig of Graettinger, IA, and Mary (Steve) Waltman of Harris, IA; special friend, Bernadette Hernandez; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; siblings, Linda Kazora, Tina Ehrig, Donald Ehrig, and Lyle Ehrig; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
