James M. Sorensen

James Michael Sorensen (Mikey Bucky) was born to James Edward and Carole-Jean (Beck) Sorensen May 8, 1957.

He grew up with his two sisters, Linda, and Diane. He lived the best of both worlds with the city life of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and country life of Treynor, Iowa.

James graduated from Lewis Central in 1975. James then went to Texas for work and later returned to Council Bluffs.

James met Thelma and married June 17, 1988. The two of them were blessed with three children: Stephanie, James, and Mary.

He was a good storyteller of tall tales. He had fond memories of his childhood. He always wanted to go see the redwood trees in California.

He wasn't affectionate, but he did have a big heart, and was very proud of his kids. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, often speaking about teaching them how to fish.

James passed away peacefully in his home Monday, August 8, 2022, at the age of 65.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Ring) Sorensen; daughters, Stephanie Sorensen of Ruthven, Iowa, and Mary Sorsensen of Ruthven, Iowa; son, James (Katelyn) Sorensen of Emmetsburg, Iowa; sister, Linda (Dean) Fajen of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James is preceded in death by his mother, Carole-Jean; father, James Edward; grandparents; sister, Diane; and many more.
