Jerrold Dean Sutherland, son of Donald and Gertrude (Kiley) Sutherland, was born  November 6, 1946 in Elgin, Illinois.  He received his education in Barrington, Illinois where he graduated from high school.  Following graduation Jerrold attended North Dakota University in Dickenson, North Dakota on a track scholarship.  Jerrold was drafted into the service after three years of college and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

After being honorably discharged, Jerrold returned to Barrington, Illinois where he was an accountant for Pepper Construction.

On November 6, 1982 Jerrold was united in marriage to Joan P. Lester in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.  They were blessed with three children.  Jerrold worked at Tischer and Sons  collecting grain samples and taking them to Fort Dodge.

Jerrold began hunting when he was eleven years old and continued that love his entire life.  He especially enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants.  He was also an avid Snooker player.

In 2018 Jerrold moved to Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley due to health issues.  He passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Hartley, at the age of 74.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Joan of Ruthven, Iowa; his children, Jeanette (Brandan) Wright of Glendale Heights, Illinois, James (Bonnie) Sutherland of Dickens, Illinois and John Sutherland of Ruthven, Iowa; five grandchildren, Gregory Wright, Amelia Wright, Shaylee Sutherland, Addison Sutherland and Payton Sutherland; a nephew, Jason (Cheryl) Sutherland of Blanchard, Oklahoma; as well as other relatives and friends.
