Jerry Ernest Wood, son of Oscar Lynn and Vivian Caroline (Bowman) Wood, was born January 10, 1948, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He received his education at Emmetsburg Community School.

Following high school, Jerry worked for Leroy Miller Construction as a mason tender until he was hurt and unable to work any longer. He enjoyed working with Leroy and was involved in many projects from throughout Iowa. For years, he loved driving by all of the projects he worked on. Jerry then lived with his parents and sister, Judy. He spent many years caring for his mother and dad as well as helping Judy when her health failed.

Jerry loved watching NASCAR racing. He also liked to attend races in Jackson and Algona. He especially liked classic muscle cars and old cars and trucks. Jerry also enjoyed fishing at Silver Lake or hunting squirrels and rabbits.  Jerry also loved to do word search puzzles. His family was extremely important to him and he kept track of all of his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Jerry passed away, Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the Emmetsburg Center, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judy Wood.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Boyer of Okoboji, Iowa, Deanna Wietgrefe and her husband, Richard of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Kathy Wood of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Sandi Smith of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
