Joseph John Terwilliger, son of Timothy and Johanna (Clare) Terwilliger, was born October 31, 1943 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  He received his education at Emmetsburg Catholic School, graduating in 1961.

Joe helped area farmers before taking over the family farm west of Emmetsburg.  Joe was a conservationist at heart and was very interested in preserving habitat for wildlife.  Even though Joe was a great shot, he decided after hunting only a few times that he preferred wildlife conservation and habitat preservation.  He loved watching and protecting the pheasants and deer on his property.

Joe was a past member of Pheasants Forever.  He loved his cats and dogs that he had throughout his life.

Following a recent fall, Joe moved to Emerald Oaks where he had resided for fourteen months.  Joe passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at his apartment at the age of 78.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Johanna Terwilliger; three sisters, two in infancy and Marie Huberty; and his brother, John Terwilliger.

He is survived by his nephew, Bill Huberty (Kori) of Emmetsburg, Iowa; niece Cathy Koster (Leo) of Winterset, Iowa; great nephew, Jack Huberty of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his dear friends, Nick and Kathy Fank and Chad and Carla Fank all of Emmetsburg, Iowa.
