Judy May Wood, daughter of Oscar Lynn and Vivian Caroline (Bowman) Wood, was born October 19, 1952 in a car between West Bend and Algona in Kossuth county. She received her education at Emmetsburg Community School.
Judy worked for Horizons Unlimited for several years and made her home between Emmetsburg and Ayrshire.
Judy made many ceramic pieces that she gave to her family members. She was a devoted caretaker for her mom, dad and brother. She loved doing word puzzles, watching T.V. and reading. But most of all, Judy loved her family. She always remembered everyone on their birthday or special events in their lives by sending them a card. She never left out a single person. When she talked about her nieces, nephews and cousins it always brought a big smile to Judy's face. They meant the world to her.
Judy was very interested in current events and could always fill you in on the news, whether that was about family members or society in general. Christmas was a special time for Judy. She looked forward to baking and decorating Christmas cookies. She always gave each family a box of her homemade Christmas goodies. The first Christmas card anyone would receive would be Judy's along with the family calendar.
Judy passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at her home near Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Vivian Wood.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Wood of Emmetsburg, Iowa; sisters, Mary Ann Boyer of Okoboji, Iowa, Deanna Wietgrefe and her husband, Richard, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Kathy Wood of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Sandi Smith of Tacoma, Washington; her nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
