Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Petersen, daughter of Joe and Doris (Rodgers) Kenne, was born April 24, 1955, in Algona, Iowa. Kathy's family made  their home in Whittemore where she began her education.  When Kathy was in 8th grade they moved to Ruthven where they lived on Lost Island Lake.  Kathy completed her education at the Ruthven Community School.

Kathy worked as a waitress at her parents' bar, Joe's Joint, and later at Mrs. O's bar and restaurant. She then went to work for Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency where she worked at the Cylinder, Pocahontas and  Fort Dodge locations, serving area school districts.

Kathy loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with them as well as attending their events.

Kathy passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Ruthven Community Care Center, at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Doris; her sister, Joanne Kenne; and sister-in-law, Gloria Kenne.

She is survived by her two children, Nichole (Kim) Simington of Ruthven, Iowa and Jonathan (Katy) Petersen of Spencer, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brody Simington, Braden Simington, Brock Simington, Ella Petersen, and Haddy Petersen; brother, Leonard Kenne; as well as many other relatives and friends.
