Kathryn "Kay" Lurvey

Kathryn Kay Lurvey, daughter of Donald G. and Donna Mae (Rasmussen) Schutz, was born October 22, 1953 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  She received her education in Mallard, graduating from Mallard High School in 1971.  Kay furthered her education by receiving an Associates Degree in Business.

Kay was united in marriage to Steven Lurvey in St. Lucia, Caribbean Island.  They made their home in Wisconsin.

Kay was employed at various jobs throughout the years.  After she and Steven were married they owned and operated a welding business at their home in Dousman, Wisconsin.  After Steven's death Kay returned to Mallard to be closer to family.

Steven owned race cars and Kay enjoyed racing, especially watching NASCAR.  She was an avid Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs fan.  Kay liked to go on shopping trips and she enjoyed cooking.  Spending time with her family was very important to her and Happy Hour in Mallard with her friends and family, was something she rarely missed.   Sundays were spent in Curlew with her sister, Donita.

Kay passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at her home in Mallard, Iowa at the age of 71.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Buettner; her father, Donald Schutz; her husband, Steven Lurvey; a brother, Tim Schutz; brothers-in-law, Gary Robbins and Leslie Hellickson.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Michael and Dana Schneider of Washburn, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Taylinn, Jessiey, and Ashley; many great grandchildren; two sisters, Donita Hellickson of Curlew, Iowa and Kim Robbins of Mallard, Iowa; sister-in-law, Dorothy Schutz of Mallard, Iowa; as well as other relatives and many friends.
