Kenneth Robert Dyer, son of Robert "Bob" and Rosie (Abby) Dyer, was born April 23, 1942 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  He received his education in Ayrshire, graduating from Ayrshire Consolidated School in 1960.  After graduation, Ken worked at Twin Hydraulics in Laurens.

On February 8, 1964 Ken was united in marriage to Martha M. Hoben in Ruthven, Iowa.  They were blessed with five children.  Ken worked at the Ruthven Creamery and the Ruthven Elevator before he began farm work.  He was a hired man for Harley Rouse for many years and then Ken got the "truck driving bug" and began hauling cattle for Harley.  He also drove truck for Corn Patch in Emmetsburg, Spencer Truck Line in Spencer and Norgaards in Dickens.

Ken and Martha have lived in Ayrshire and Ruthven throughout their 58 years of marriage.

Ken was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven.

Ken was always proud of his yard, keeping it mowed and caring for his flower gardens.  He even enjoyed snow blowing.  Ken attended morning coffee at the Country Store where he would catch up on all the news from his friends.  Ken was extremely proud of his family of truckers.  Each of his children as well as a grandson have followed in his footsteps as truck drivers.

Ken passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 at his home in Ruthven, Iowa, at the age of 79.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Rosie Dyer; sisters, Mary and Colleen Dyer in infancy, and Carol Duis; a son, Quint Dyer; daughter, Melissa Dyer; granddaughter, Melissa Storey; and grandson-in-law, Zach Cowan.

Ken is survived by his wife, Martha of Ruthven, Iowa; his children, Neil (Tracy) Dyer of Ruthven, Iowa, Kristie (Jerry Besch) Daly of Mallard, Iowa and Cory (Michelle Duss) Dyer of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Angie Sikora of Ruthven, Iowa; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, John (Paula) Dyer of Algona, Iowa; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
