He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1962, excelled in football, basketball and track achieving Captain Status in all of them. He "ran like the wind" as part of the E'Hawk two mile record setting relay team with a best time of 8m 26s. Larry carried that athletic passion throughout his life. He loved going to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, IA even when the weather was bad. He was passionate about watching football and sports with his family/friends. He attended several Cyclone and Hawkeye football games with a highlight trip to the Rose Bowl in 2016 .
In 1964 Larry married Kristen O'Connor. To this union, three children were born. His children, Anne, Lisa, Allyn and their families meant the world to him. He farmed near Emmetsburg, IA most of his adult life and Larry was known as an excellent farmer throughout Palo Alto County. He tended to be a John Deere man. Green was his color. He enjoyed spending time at his house on Five Island Lake. He often went out for pontoon rides and fished for catfish off the dock. He always said living on the water was his happy place. With friends and family, he also loved to play golf, enjoyed hunting and excelled at trap shooting.
After selling the family farm in 2010, Larry wintered in Sierra Vista, AZ to escape the cold and be close to his family.
Larry passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021, in Sierra Vista, AZ at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.T. and Madgell Nock, his two brothers Michael and Ted Nock and his nephew Nathan Nock.

Dad, Gpa Larry, thank you for sharing your faith in God and Jesus, teaching us the value of hard work, and for the love of sports, games and nature. Your competitive drive is in every single one of us. Your laughter and the happy times we shared will forever live in our hearts!
