Rev. Alan Jahn
Lisa Ann Jahn, 60, of Graettinger, IA, passed away in her home on the evening of February 8, 2022, only 26 days following a diagnosis of an aggressive form of metastatic lung cancer. A live stream service will be held on Saturday, February 26 for those who wish to join.
Lisa was born May 23, 1961 to her mother Shirley Cummings, a Norwegian immigrant, and her father Robert Brazy , who, coming from a family of Holocaust survivors, was the first in his family to go to college. A fact Lisa was beyond proud of, Robert was an anesthesiologist and lived his life doting on his little girl. Lisa was the youngest of two, with her brother Joel being just two years older.
The siblings grew up in a nice area of Milwaukee, WI in a house built by their uncle. The kids were often found romping about and bickering as siblings do and the family spent their time throwing elaborate parties and traveling the world. Lisa spoke often of how much she admired her dad and loved accompanying him to work and watching him assist in surgeries. Her mom brought her along to family visits every Sunday where her parents stressed the importance of family togetherness.
While their childhood appeared picture perfect on the outside, a lot of family turmoil happened within. Lisa spent her life healing from the emotional abuse and it proved her mental strength and stamina. She named her nanny / maid, Ruth, as her saving grace and her second mother. Ruth even took Lisa in whenever she ran away from home. She recalled feeling more comfortable in Ruth's home than she ever did in the rest of her childhood.
In her teen years, Lisa delved into her undying love for horses. She spent as much time as possible at a stable North of Milwaukee with her horses, a gift from her father, Briarwood Supreme Style (Meathead) and Crackling Rose (Rosy). She showed the horses many times until she had a horrible accident one day when a horse spooked and bucked on an automatic walker and put Lisa into a coma. Lisa spent several months partially paralyzed and never regained memories from the first year or two following.
While she went on to complete a degree in Equestrian Science at William Woods, the nagging effects of her head trauma led to an inability to ride horses ever again. She often referred to this time as her "Daddy Degree" and went on to receive many more years of her ongoing education – including multiple masters' degrees in varying topics.
Lisa spent her young years selling cars and Kirby vacuums and she recalls these times as some of her favorites. A salesman at heart, Lisa spent many years trying to recapture those fun moments of back and forth in the car industry working with her boss, Jack, after whom her first child would be named.
Lisa's first marriage to Allen
Boser
was tumultuous, but introduced to the world her first child, Jack Allen
Boser
. Even though she divorced his father, Lisa's commitment to Jack remained unwavering. Jack has since gone on to become a stellar husband and fantastic parent himself.
Jack brought about the meeting of Lisa's second husband by befriending the neighbors, Ray and Cindy, at just two years old. This is where Lisa met Ray's brother, Glen Jahn. On their first date, a concert to see Ozark Mountain Daredevils, the couple stayed up talking until the sun rose the next morning – they were both hooked. Their relationship brought into the world Lisa's second child, Cassie Lee Jahn. Much like her older brother, Cassie has become an incredible adult, partner, and parent.
Lisa and Glen moved from Wisconsin to Clinton, IA after Lisa's father died to be closer to Glen's family. When they got married, Glen "proposed" ring and all to 6 year old Jack, too, and Lisa knew she had made the right choice. And so began their fairy tale love story – filled with concerts, kids, walks in nature, movies, and a plethora of other ordinary, extraordinary moments.
The couple raised their kids as best they could and worked hard to give them the life they wished they had had. Both Jack and Cassie went on to have two children of their own and so Glen and Lisa became grandparents. Being a grandparent was one of Lisa's greatest joys. She spoke often of her love of her grandchildren and anyone who talked to her or asked her how she was would hear an update on the kids. Bragging about her little grandkids, sharing their pictures, and playing with them on their visits were her favorite ways to spend her time up until her very last days.
Lisa and Glen shared 33 wonderful years together, 29 married, until Glen passed away in 2020 to metastatic lung cancer. Only 15 months later, Lisa was diagnosed with the same cancer and stated confidently that this was God's plan – so that she could understand Glen's pain and finally be with him, whole and healed. She lived her last three weeks humbly and walked into her diagnosis with a strength and sense of calm that all who saw were impressed by – no doubt a lifetime filled with hardship after hardship had led to a person who was mentally strong, kind, and filled with love.
On February 8, just hours before Glen's birthday, Lisa left this earth. We truly believe that she was ready to spend his birthday with him once again – a gift beyond any other – these two are together, celebrating joyously once again.
Lisa is survived by her two children: Jack Allen
Boser
(wife Leticia) and Cassie Lee
Jahn (wife Chelsi); her six grandchildren: Isela Renae and Annette Leah
Boser
(Jack), Nikolai Gabriel and Orion Oliver Jahn (Cassie), and
Kylen
and Caleb; and her two great grandchildren.
Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Shirley (Cummings) Brazy and her husband, Glen Jahn.
