Lula J. Grandstaff Eaton, daughter of Wesley and Prudence (Lloyd) Wunn, was born October 16, 1930 near Milford, Iowa, in Dickinson County. She began her education in a one room school, Westport #6 near Milford until eighth grade. Then Lu attended Okoboji Consolidated Township School, west of Milford where she graduated. Following high school Lu continued her education at Mankato Commercial College in Mankato, Minnesota.

Lu worked in Minnesota, Washington D.C. and Illinois before returning to Iowa, making her home in Ruthven. While living in Washington D.C. Lu worked for the Department of the U.S. Navy. After moving to Iowa she was employed at B&M Produce and then Ruthven Consolidated School where she was the secretary for the principal and punched lunch tickets for seventeen years. She was able to call every student by name and all the kids loved her. The graduating class of 1979 dedicated their school annual to Lu in honor of her retirement and dedication to her job.

Lu was united in marriage to Kenneth K. Grandstaff. They were blessed with three children, Sharon, Kenneth W. and Ray. In 1979, Lu was married to Virgil Eaton. They shared nineteen wonderful years together.

Lu was a member of the United Methodist Church and circle. As a child, Lu was active in 4-H. She was a member of the Jazzy Jewel Red Hat group, R.S.V.P., Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary and the Ruthven American Legion Auxiliary.

Virgil and Lu enjoyed taking trips in their trailer and spending their winters in Texas for many years. Lu also enjoyed knitting, crocheting as well as making other crafts. She loved to take care of her yard, mowing and tending her flowers and garden. Lu always kept track of her grandchildren's accomplishments and activities. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her coffee group.

Lu passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Kenneth and Virgil; brother, Donald Wunn; and sisters, Lois Boers, Audrey Roberts and Phyllis Rochler.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Grandstaff Dischinger of Livonia, Michigan, Kenneth W. Grandstaff of Gillet Grove, Iowa and Ray (Barb) Grandstaff of Ruthven, Iowa; step children, Rodney Eaton of Ruthven, Iowa and Rhonda Eaton of Ruthven, Iowa; four grandchildren, Chad Dischinger, Katie (Will) Summers, Nick Grandstaff and Bobbie (Kyle) Newmans; great grandchildren, Dylan Dischinger, Teddy, John and Matthew, Newmans; as well as many other relatives and friends.
