Marjorie Ann "Marge" Wollner died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Accura Health Care of Milford of complications of a stroke and declining health.
Marge was born on her mother's birthday on April 17, 1928, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Hugh and Gertrude (Connors) Mehan. She was raised in Catholic schools and graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School. Upon graduation she worked as a bookkeeper at a local implement business until marrying Ed Wollner on January 17, 1950, at which point she became a homemaker and helped manage the farm's operations.
Ed and Marge were married for over 70 years. Theirs was a special love story and their children can't remember a single argument. They farmed very successfully in the Terril area for 45 years. Despite not being from a farm background she became the ultimate farm wife working actively on the farm. Upon retirement Ed and Marge moved to Milford where they enjoyed many happy years while still remaining close to the Terril community and their many friends there.
Marge was active in many organizations. They included the Terril American Legion Auxiliary; the Semper Fidelis club; her kids' school activities; and her church circle. She especially enjoyed her 60 plus year bridge club with her good friends.
Marge was a very kind and caring person. She was a very loving and supportive wife and a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her son John and daughter Joan (Jeff) Williams. She's also survived by her grandchildren Nick (Aly) Williams; Natalie (Steve) Kakaty; Ed and Derek Wollner; her great grandchildren Beau, Nolan, and Conley Williams and Olivia Marjorie Kakaty; sisters-in-law Tootie Mehan and Julie Wollner; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ed; her parents Hugh and Gertie Mehan; her in-laws John and Della Wollner; her daughter-in- law Ginger Wollner; her brother Bill Mehan and sister and brother in law Marilyn and Dick Carpenter; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Margaret and Kenny Kenyon; Josephine and Norv Elbert; Mike Wollner; and Lois and Joe Wollner; her niece Ann Wollner and her nephew Bob Mehan.
