Michael Dennis Markley, Sr., son of Harvey and Geraldine (Kabrick) Markley, was born May 1, 1941, in Spencer, Iowa. He began his education in Spencer Community Schools and after his family moved to Dickens, he continued his education and graduated from Ruthven High School.

Mike was united in marriage to Carmen LeStrange and they were blessed with two sons, Michael, Jr. and Craig.  Mike was later married to Sandra Hammitt.  After Sandra's death, Mike met Anna Robbins and they have spent the  past twenty two years together, making their home in Ruthven.

Mike was self-employed installing flooring and carpet for stores throughout northwest Iowa.  He worked in this capacity until his retirement.

Mike loved the outdoors and being around the lake where he enjoyed sailing.  He liked bike riding and had participated in RAGBRAI several years.  He did wood working and was quite an auto mechanic, always fixing something.

Mike passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Mercy One Hospital in Mason City, Iowa at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Geraldine; infant sister, Virginia Ann; wife, Sandi; son, Michael Markley Jr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Irvin Hansen.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Robbins of Ruthven, Iowa;  his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Lisa Markley of Ruthven, Iowa; three grandchildren, Cassie, Kayla, and Cody; Anna's family; a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Phyllis Markley of Cloquet, Minnesota; as well as many other relatives and friends.
