Nancy Birks Roland, daughter of Charles and Annie (Birks) Halsey, was born on January 9, 1929 in Township of Neptune, New Jersey.  She received her education in New Jersey.  Nancy met Charles Roland at a skating rink while he was serving in the United States Army.  They were united in marriage on April 30, 1947 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

They made their home near Ruthven where they farmed.  They later moved to New Jersey where they made their home for a while before returning to Iowa.  After their three children were born, Nancy began doing daycare in her home.  She was a devoted homemaker and caretaker.  She loved each of the children she cared for and was a grandmother to many.

Nancy's faith was very important to her and she lived her life as a devout Christian.

Nancy passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at the age of 92.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Annie Halsey; her husband, Charles Roland; sisters, Helen Wolfe and Lillian Smith; and a brother, Leonard Halsey.

She was a loving mother to, Cindy (Richard) Osborne of Ankeny, Iowa, Lori (Brad) Price of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Kim (Tracy) Carter of Spencer, Iowa; a loving and nurturing Granny to Nathan (Kari) Osborne of Altoona, Iowa, Mindy (Jesse) Truong of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mathew Osborne of Ankeny, Iowa, Sarah (Dexter) Perry of Altoona, Iowa, Jeremy (Kaitlin) Carter of Mankato, Minnesota, Kristy (Cavon) Riley of Webb, Iowa, Michael Price of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Danielle (Marcus) Rolark of Urbandale, Iowa, Brittany (Kevin) Grimes of Pasadena, California, Christopher Carter of LeMars, Iowa; a doting Great-Grandma to McKenzie, Abigail, Keagen, Gabriel, Izayah, Maurion, Isabelle, Jaidyn, Neeko, Jaimee, Jordyn, Khloe, Aiden, Ethan, Andrielle, Elise, Henry, Ariana, Pierce, Bergan, Benton, and Forest; her sister, Mary Blanche Miller of Dover, Delaware; a cousin, Gwendolyn Bennett of Neptune City, New Jersey; as well as many other relatives and friends.
