Pearl Whitmore
June 10, 1924 - October 18, 2021

A private family graveside service will be held at the Storm Lake Cemetery.

Pearl Louise (Frerichs) Whitmore was born June 10, 1924, in Storm Lake, the daughter of William and Wilhelmina (Lange) Frerichs. She graduated from Storm Lake High School and continued her education at the American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines. She then worked at Citizen Bank in Storm Lake.

On July 31, 1942, Pearl was married to Clifford Whitmore. The couple lived in Kansas City, Nemaha, and Early, before moving to Emmetsburg in 1955. Pearl worked for several years at Sterling Lumber Co. Beginning in 1964, Pearl helped her husband run his plumbing, heating and electric business, until retiring.

Pearl was a faithful worker for her church, starting early in life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg where she sang in the choir for years, and taught Sunday school.

She loved to golf, play bridge, and dance. She bowled on a league at one time. Pearl served as president of the Women's Golf Association two separate times. She delivered Meals on Wheels for years.

Pearl is survived by her son, Roger Whitmore, of Colorado Springs,  CO; son-in-law, Tom Sanne of Houston, TX; and daughter-in-law, Carol Whitmore Brenza of LaJolla, CA; four grandchildren: Jeremy Whitmore of San Antonio, TX, Jeff Whitmore of San Diego, CA, Kelly (Whitmore) Heaney of Phoenix, AZ, and Scott Sanne of Houston, TX; four great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Also surviving is a special friend, Jane Whitmore of Emmetsburg.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cliff Whitmore, Feb. 10, 1985; son, Richard Whitmore, Sept. 30, 1985; daughter, Dona Sanne, July 31, 2019; and siblings, brother Ernest, and sisters Fern, Blanche and Nonie.
