Robert Gene Beatty, son of Leonard G. and Ruby P. (Sampson) Beatty, was born November 1, 1934 in Prescott, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Orient High School, where he was active in basketball, football and choir. While in high school, Bob drove school bus for the Orient school system.

Bob served in the Army National Guard for eight years.

On September 11, 1960, Bob was united in marriage to Margaret "Peg" Kindlespire in Ruthven, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Bob and Peg owned and operated Peg and Bob's Department Store where Bob did T.V. service repair, for several years. Most recently Bob had been employed at Graham Tire where he sold appliances from 1981 until 1999, when he retired.

He served as mayor of Dickens and was a member of the Fire Department. Bob was also involved in Spencer Crime Stoppers.

Bob enjoyed watching westerns on T.V. and caring for his acreage. He loved camping and boating with his friends and family at Saylorville Lake, Clear Lake and Mason City. He was an avid fan of both the Hawkeyes and the Cyclones and loved every opportunity he had to spend with his children and grandchildren.

Bob passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Donald and Marjorie Kindlespire; a grandson, Tyler Molitor; and three brothers-in-law, James Kindlespire, Bob Stanley and Joe Torpy.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" of Spencer, Iowa; his children, Kurt (Colleen) Beatty of Suwanee, Georgia, Kent (Lori) Beatty of Mason City, Iowa, Kelley (John) Molitor of Osage, Iowa and Karla (Ryan) Lunn of Fairmont, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Emily Beatty, Matthew Beatty, Whitney (Kyle) Germindson, Jennifer Molitor, Trevor Molitor, Tanner Molitor, Lexi Lunn and Becca Lunn; a brother, Carl (Bernice) Beatty of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters, Patricia Torpy of Adel, Iowa and Bette (Jim) Dory of Anita, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
