Robert Harry Henderson, son of Harry and Edna (Miller) Henderson, was born June 26, 1942 on the family farm east of Emmetsburg. Bob received his education in Emmetsburg. Bob began farming with his dad at a very young age. He drove tractor while his dad stacked bales on the flat rack. At the end of the field, Harry would have to get off to the flat rack to turn the tractor around because Bob was so little. Bob served in the Iowa National Guard after high school.
Bob was united in marriage to Carolyn High on March 30, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. They were blessed with a son and daughter.
Bob continued farming for many years until he retired at the age of 60, when he and Carolyn then moved into town and he began working for Flannegan Western. He worked with Mike for twelve years.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. He was also a member of Pork Producers and the Woodcarving Club.
He was an extremely talented wood carver, making many items for friends and family. Bob and Carolyn enjoyed camping at Ingham Lake and Lost Island Lake. They traveled all over the country in their camper.
Bob passed away, Friday, June 26, 2020, at his home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Edna Henderson and sisters, Darlene Fitzner, Edna Ruth Jensen and Bonnie Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his children, Steven Henderson (Stacie Young) of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Barbara (Mike) Boulton in Ceylon, Minnesota; Tyler Henderson, Cody (Taylor) Henderson, Clayton (Molly) Henderson, Mikayla Myers (Rene Arias; Zachary Pelinski, Kibben Young, Gavin Young and Caden Young; his brother, John Henderson of Ocala, Florida; nieces and nephew; as well as many other relatives and friends.
