Roger Earl Olson, son of Raymond and Helen (Current) Olson, was born February 2, 1935 in Terril, Iowa.  He received his education at the Lake Township School graduating from Lake Township High School.  Following high school, Roger continued his education at Iowa State University in Ames where he earned a degree in Engineering.

Roger served in the United States Air Force from June 4, 1957 until being honorably discharged on June 2, 1961.

Roger was united in marriage to Dianne Hunter in Biloxi, Mississippi.  They were blessed with five children.

Roger was employed in the Aero Space Industry beginning his career at North American Rockwell Space Division and Rockwell International in Downy, California. In 1971, he then went to work for Hughs Aircraft in El Segundo, California until his retirement in 1997. During his employment Roger was involved in several Apollo missions.

Roger was a member of the N.R.A. and he was a proud and politically active Republican.  He loved studying aviation and watching airplanes when he lived near the Los Angeles Airport.  Roger enjoyed helping put flags out for Memorial Day. Roger spent many hours updating and transferring the family genealogy to ancestery.com.

Roger passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 88.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Helen Olson ad his wife, Dianne.

He is survived by his children, Dawn Norton of Ruthven, Iowa, Robert Olson of Riverbank, California, Lynda Olson of Ruthven, Iowa, Mark Olson of Garden Grove, California and Daniel Olson of Portland, Connecticut; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his brother, Stanley Olson of Florida; his sisters, Janet Sales of Iowa and Myrna Johnston of Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
