Ronald Dean Seaman, son of Lee and Lillian (Seymore) Seaman, was born January 2, 1936 in Ruthven, Iowa. He graduated from Spencer High School and then attended Wayne State college in Wayne, Nebraska for one year. While at Wayne State, Ron played football for the Wildcats.

He entered the United States Navy in 1956 and was stationed on the U.S.S. Philippine Sea Antiaircraft carrier and served as Naval Photograher.

On December 15, 1957, Ron was united in marriage to Diane Hofstad at the First Congregation Church in Spencer, Iowa. Ron and Diane moved to San Diego, California, where Ron was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station. They made California their home until 1960 when Ron was honorably discharged from the Navy.

He continued his love of photography and journalism, accepting a job with the Cherokee Times in Cherokee, Iowa. In 1964 he took a job as Sports Editor for the Forest City Summit and in 1968 Ron and his family moved to Emmetsburg where he was named Editor for the Emmetsburg Reporter and Democrat. He remained with the Reporter and Democrat until 1976.

After a long newspaper career, Ron accepted a position with KEMB Radio station when it went on the air and did broadcasting for six years. In 1979 Ron and Diane became owners and publishers of the Predicament Wrestling Magazine. They earned a great deal of notoriety for this publications throughout the state of Iowa and beyond.

Ron and Diane saved the "best for last" when in 1983, they opened their own photography, matting and framing business, Ron's Photography. They worked side by side photographing weddings, individual and family portraits, sporting events and school photos. They traveled throughout northwest Iowa making countless friends and unforgettable memories.

After Diane's death in 2003, Ron continued to live in the family home on Five Island Lake where he continued to do custom matting and framing. In 2014 he moved to Vintage Hills at Prairie Trail in Ankeny.

Ron loved fishing and hunting. He was always ready for a game of golf or Cribbage with his friends. He was an avid fan of all sporting events and was especially proud of his sons' accomplishments. After becoming a grandpa, he never hesitated to share what events they were participating in as well. He also enjoyed attending daily coffee get-togethers with his friends at various locations around town and was a regular at Chamber coffees held each Friday.

Ron was a devoted and active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce serving as past Board Member and was elected to the City Council. Ron was a promoter of Emmetsburg, whether through the school and the activities there or the city itself. His positive attitude and genuine spirit were gifts Ron shared with everyone he came in contact with.
