Rosabelle Margaret (Schmidt) Johnson, daughter of Charles George and Kathryn Elizabeth (Krug) Schmidt, was born October 9, 1927 in West Bend, Iowa.  She received her education in West Bend, graduating from West Bend High School in 1946.

Rosie was united in marriage to John Alvin Johnson and they were blessed with two children, Janet and Jerry.  Rosie was employed at Montgomery Ward and J.C. Penney.  She also worked at the Redwood Café  and for Homer Mileham Produce, candling eggs.  She later worked at the Palo Alto County Hospital and the Emmetsburg Multipurpose Senior Center, where she was very active in promoting the center.

Rosie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.  She loved playing cards, especially 500, and was a true competitor when it came to winning the game.

Rosie passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, Minnesota, at the age of 94.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; sisters, Edna Storesund and Lillian Longseth; brothers Everett and Harvey Schmidt.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet (David) Rieke of Fairfax, Minnesota; her son, Jerry (Lynda) Johnson of Raytown, Missouri; grandchildren and great grandchildren,  Stacey (Tony) Welman of St. Paul, Minnesota and their children, Aaleyah, Chenaniah and Tiberias, Carl (Stacy) Rieke of Tucker, Georgia and their son, David, Denise (Lincoln) McCabe of Prior Lake, Minnesota and their children, Liam and Miles, Jacob (Kylie) Rieke of Fairfax, Minnesota and their children, Avery and Maya, Stephanie (Mark) Weddle of Grain Valley, Missouri and their children, Marissa and Kristen McCormick, Jermie (Candi) Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri and their children, Noah, Johnny, Jesse, and Jayme, Elizabeth (Jason) Tidwalde of Big Rapids, Michigan and their children, Lolla, Lilly, Morgan and Caitlin, Rebecca (Travis) Brandt of Brandon, Mississippi and their son, Johannes, Elmer (Jo Ann) Villanneva of Tokyo, Japan and their children, J.R., Ace and Noah, Lin Nakase of Oita, Japan, and Mari (Takayuki) Narahara of Kurume, Japan and their children, Mei, Rui, and Ai; as well as many other relatives and friends.
