Rose was born on January 19,1956 in Ottumwa Iowa to Walter and Genevieve (Goeders) Garrett. She married James E. Whitehill on June 22, 1975. They had three children James E. Whitehill, Jr. born April 6, 1976, Jacob Gerald Whitehill born on December 16,1977  and Corinna K. Whitehill born January 20,1979. After they divorced in May of 1980, Rose married William Henry Conway on November 22,1980. They had two children, William Edward Conway born January 27, 1981, and Jacqueline Lynn Conway born September 19, 1995.

In 1984 Rose obtained her GED and became certified as a Nurse's Aide. She started her career at Emmetsburg Care Center but then worked many years at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, where she also enjoyed being an activity director for a time. She then worked for the Palo Alto County Hospital as a home health aide. Rose then returned to the Care Center before her retirement.

Rose spent her life caring for others. Those that knew her well, know what a truly devoted wife and mother she was. She had a nurturing spirit that was evident to everyone around her. She loved to sing, color, do puzzles, cook for her family, and play cards and games for hours. She loved to be around her grandchildren and was eager to laugh.

After her husband passed in January of 2020 she retired and moved to New Mexico to be with her children. She was bored sitting at home so she decided to get a small part time job bagging wings and folding boxes at the Palo Alto Pizza Hut in Grants, New Mexico. She brightened the day for all the staff as she made beautiful flowers out of the left over box pieces and gave them her amazing smile and warm hugs. She loved going up the mountains and out to the Sandstone Bluffs. She really appreciated the beauty of God's creation. Rose's faith was always very important to her. She was raised Catholic, and was Methodist for a short time. She then rejoined the Catholic church when she married William. She was recently baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on May 7, 2021. Because of this and her great faith we are comforted to know that we will see her again and that she rests with those that have gone before her.

She has joined on the other side of the veil by her grandparents, Cecil and Florence (Stone) Garrett,  John Goeders, Rose (Laubenthal),  and Edd Smith;  her parents, Walter and Genevieve, her husband, William; two sons, James who died on February 24, 2000 of cancer and Jacob who died on October 7, 1978 of SIDS; four brothers, Bobby, Walter, and Steven Garrett and Nick Clifton.

She is joyfully waiting for the family still here on Earth to be with her.  This includes her sisters, Madeline (Johnny Guitar), Mary (Ray Blanchard), Ann (Mike Heath); her children, Corinna (Rodney Whitehill), William (Danica Conway), and Jacqueline Conway; her fourteen grandchildren; her great granddaughter; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
