Rose Marie (McFarland) Reit, daughter of Alfred "Al" and Rose M. (O'Connor) McFarland, was born June 24, 1952 in Omaha, Nebraska.  Shortly after Rose's birth the McFarland's moved to Emmetsburg. As a young girl Rose loved riding her horses, especially Babe, and attending trail rides and campouts at the Reeves farm.  Rose began her education at St. Ellen's Academy and completed 8th grade.  She then attended Emmetsburg Catholic High School until it closed in 1968.  Rose then completed her junior and senior year at Emmetsburg High School, graduating in 1970.  Following high school Rose attended Patricia Steven's College in Omaha for one year.

On September 9, 1972 Rose was united in marriage to David Reit at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.  Dave and Rose liked to take trips to Las Vegas where they had the opportunity to see many entertainers perform.  They made their home in Emmetsburg where Rose was employed at Brenton Bank.  She then went on to work for Wells Fargo until her retirement. On June 21, 2000, Dave passed away and Rose continued to make her home in Emmetsburg.  She was a loving and devoted daughter, caring for her mother for many years.

Following her retirement, Rose became very active in the process to secure a casino in Emmetsburg, lobbying in Des Moines and assisting in local community awareness.  She served on the Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation for a few years after the Wild Rose Casino was built.  Rose then accepted the position of Executive Casino Host at Wild Rose Casino, where she took great pride in making sure her clientele had an enjoyable experience while on the gaming floor or attending concerts.

In 2006, while working at the casino, Rose had the opportunity to meet Dave Alig and they had the joy of spending several great years together.  Rose and Dave enjoyed their home on the lake, boating, riding the wave runner or just sitting outside with their dogs, Jack and Cooper.  They also both enjoyed a trip to Diamond Joe's now and then.  Rose retired from the Wild Rose Casino and Resort in 2019.

Rose passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 69.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Rose McFarland and her husband, Dave.

She is survived by her dear friend, Dave Alig of Emmetsburg, Iowa; her close friends; as well as extended family.
