Samuel Gaylord Lowman, son of Harold and Hazel (Michaels) Lowman was born March 6, 1945, in Emmetsburg, IA.  He attended school in Rodman and High School in Cylinder, IA.    Sam met and later married the love of his life, Eva Harris on August 21, 1965, in the United Methodist Church in Graettinger, IA.  To this union four children were born.

Sam and Eva made their home in Emmetsburg.  Sam was a mechanic and welder by trade and he worked for Rouse Wrecking, Durnell Engineering, Iowa Industrial Hydraulics, Roll-Aid Extenders and Kathleen's Residential Care.  Sam's health forced him to retire.

His interests included both reading and composing poetry.  Sam enjoyed reading books, music, drawing, sketching, and movies.  He was particularly fond of playing war games and he and Eva spent many hours together playing their vast collection of games and attending flea markets.  Sam's grandchildren were his delight.

Sam passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, IA, at the age of 72 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gloal and Eugene Lowman; and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Lowman.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Lowman of Emmetsburg, IA; children, Pamela (Richard) Lenz of Humboldt, Harold Lowman of Emmetsburg, Rachel (Kevin) Brennan of Prior Lake, MN, and Heather Lowman (Chris Howard) of Carroll, IA; nine grandchildren, Samantha Huberty, Joe, Gene, Lisa, and Alex Lowman, Sam and Anna Lenz, and Caleb and Hannah Brennan; three brothers, Gary (Tammy) Lowman of Emmetsburg, Keith (Barb) Lowman of Graettinger, and Dave (Opal) Lowman of Omaha, NE; three sisters, Jeannine Burt of Hartley, IA, Joanne (Ron) Stevens of Bolivar, MO, and Jane (Jim) Stevens of Emmetsburg, IA; sister-in-law, Gerri Jo Lowman of Emmetsburg, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
