Sheila Rae Winther, daughter of Raymond and Hazel (Scheff) Plumhoff, was born October 8, 1943 in Trimont, Minnesota. She began her education in Trimont and then attended school in Alpha, Minnesota through eighth grade. Sheila went to high school in Jackson, Minnesota, graduating from Jackson High School in 1961.

On October 17, 1964 Sheila was united in marriage to Larry Winther at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimbleton, Minnesota. To this union three children were born.

Sheila and Larry moved to Spencer after their marriage and made Spencer their home. Sheila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Besides caring for her own family, she did housekeeping for many families in Spencer.

Sheila enjoyed doing crossword and word search puzzles. She liked bowling and had been a member of a bowling team. She was an avid reader and loved visiting her family. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. A big highlight each year, for Sheila, was preparing for Christmas, whether it entailed decorating, baking or buying just the right gift. She made Christmas a very special holiday for her family.

Sheila passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at her home in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Plumhoff and two grandchildren, Brittany Winther and Adam Updyke.

She is survived by her husband, Larry of Spencer, Iowa; her children, Lisa (Mike) Stuart of Knoxville, Iowa, LaChelle (Charlie) Anderson of Spencer, Iowa, and Lance (Janelle) Winther of Spencer, Iowa; seven grandchildren Nicole Stuart, Zachary (Stephanie) Stuart, Megan Stuart, Emily Stuart, Jarrod (Megan) Winther, Alyssa Winther, and Alexis Winther; three great grandchildren, Jayden, Talen and Peighton; her mother, Hazel Plumhoff of Alpha, Minnesota; her brother, Steven Plumhoff of Alpha, Minnesota; two sisters, Sonya Welch of Alpha, Minnesota and Sharon Malchow of Jackson, Minnesota; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
