Shelly Raye McKnight, daughter of Seldon and Norma "Pat" (Allie) Anderson, was born October 30, 1960 in West Bend, Iowa. She received her education in West Bend, graduating from West Bend High School in 1979.

Shelly was united in marriage to Timothy McKnight at the Assembly of God Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. To this union a son, Joe, was born.

They made their home in Estherville where Shelly was employed at Diesel Specialties. She later went to work at NAPA, Holiday Express and Casey's, all in Estherville. Shelly then went to work at Crystal Tips and later Polaris in Spirit Lake.

She loved the outdoors, especially fishing and rock finding. She enjoyed fishing for catfish and hunting for arrowheads. She accumulated a large collection of arrowheads that she was very proud of. Shelly loved her family as well as she and Joe's dogs, Sasha and Little Buddy. She was always ready to sit outside by the fire pit with friends and family.

Shelly passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2016, at her home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 56. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Joe McKnight (Kasey Edwards) of Emmetsburg, Iowa; three grandchildren, Emily, Jimmy and Kyler; three brothers, Bill Anderson (Pam) of Dakota City, Iowa, Rich Anderson of Texas and Kevin Anderson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her sister, Marla Anderson of Sioux City, Iowa; her close friend, Dale Kinnetz of Emmetsburg, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends.
