Sherri Lynne Schomaker, daughter of James and Saundra (Clark) Van Voorst, was born June 6, 1959 in Sioux Center, Iowa.  Her family moved to Spencer where Sherri attended Spencer Community School.

Sherri was a manager at Airgas for twenty five years before retiring in July 2021 due to health issues.

She enjoyed gardening, going fishing and watching the birds.  Sherri had also been on a bowling league and liked to play golf.  She was always ready for a trip to the Casino.

Sherri passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Aspire of Estherville, at the age of 62.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Van Voorst; her mother, Saundra Friedrich; and her partner of several years, George Heisler.

She is survived by her children, Corey Schomaker of Waseca, Minnesota, Joe Schomaker of Mallard, Iowa and Jennifer Blass (Matt) of Estherville, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Morgan, Macie, Cameron, Braden, Jonathan, Jaycee, Andrew, Zachary; brothers, Doug Van Voorst (Deb) Hartley, Iowa, Steve Van Voorst of Amana, Iowa and Jason Friedrich of Spencer, Iowa; a sister, Barbara Drollinger (Mark) of Houston, Texas; special friend, Bill Frederick of Ruthven, Iowa; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
