Virginia Marie Currans, daughter of John A. and Margaret A. (Conway) Kliegl, was born September 11, 1920 at her family's home near Osgood, Iowa. She received her education in country school in Vernon Township.

On February 1, 1945, Virginia was united in marriage to Leonard J. Currans at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger, Iowa. To this union five children were born.

Virginia was a devoted homemaker, caring for her family, tirelessly working from dawn to dusk. She was never one to complain and wanted to draw no attention to herself. She will certainly be remembered by her family for her delicious angel food cakes, breads, divinity and caramel corn.

Virginia was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg and was active in the Altar and Rosary Societies in both Ruthven and Emmetsburg. Virginia had a very strong faith which allowed her to accept whatever she was presented with throughout her life. She was a quiet person, with a gently soul and was always ready to listen to others and be there for them.

Virginia passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 1969; her sons, John in 1973 and Tim in 1980; her parents; her sisters, Opal Korleski, Teresa Kelly, Josephine (Dode) Fitzgerald, Marjorie Wright, Ellen Kliegl and Gertie Fogarty; brothers, Robert in WWII, Joseph and John; her son-in-law, Keith Tesch; and two great grandsons.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Samuelson and her husband, David of Davenport, Iowa, Kathleen VanWyhe and her husband, Larry of Unionville, Missouri, and Macrina Tesch of Spencer, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; brothers, George Kliegl and his wife, Evelyn of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Larry Kliegl and his wife, Leola of Emmetsburg, Iowa; daughters-in-law, Mary Currans and Joy Currans; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
